4. Increase the number of sites ‘voting’ for you online. The single most important factor in getting ranked from Google is getting inbound links into your site. A link to your site is seen by Google as a vote from that website to your website. The more links you have coming to your site that targets a particular keyword, the greater the reputation (and so the rankings) of your site for that keyword. Besides the quantity of links, it’s also the consistency. Getting top positions is one thing, staying on top is another. You have to consistently provide links to your site even if it’s at the top so that you protect your position. The more links you have the greater the protection you have from your competitors.
5. More votes from Google loved sites. Apart from the quantity and consistency of links/votes from other websites to your website – you should also focus on the quality of the links/votes. One high quality link can sometimes be worth a hundred ordinary links. Unlike Yahoo and MSN/Bing, Google doesn’t just count quantity of links into your site – they also factor in who is linking to you and what is on that page that is lining to you for relevance. If you can get links from sites that already have a large number of links to their own site then Google starts to see your site as an authority in your industry – and therefore starts to rank your site higher.
6. Focused on page optimisation. We provide each of your targeted pages with a short, focused title tag with the keyword you wish to get ranked for ideally at the beginning. You should also have the keyword in a heading tag somewhere on the page. Lastly your keyword should be sprinkled into the text of the page in a natural way. Your page should be written primarily for your visitors – not for the search engines so that when people land on your page they are compelled to call you. Just sprinkle in your keywords naturally. Fixing up these 3 factors will get your on page factors to align with your linking. A lot of people also fret about the keyword tag. The truth is that the keyword tag is not very important for Google – except they look at it to see if you are trying to stuff too many keywords – to see if your site should get a penalty. For Yahoo and MSN/Bing it can be important though so we recommend you include it but don’t put dozens and dozens of keywords in it.
